Phillip Danault signs three-year contract extension with Montreal Canadiens

The Montreal Canadiens announce that they have signed centre Phillip Danault to a three-year contract, avoiding the arbitration hearing that was set to take place on Friday.

Phillip Danault just completed the second year of his two-year bridge deal that paid him on average $912,000. This new contract gives him a significant raise, to $3.083 million and secures one year of unrestricted free agency.

Danault has been one of the Canadiens’ top centres over the past three seasons, scoring 24 goals and adding 46 assists (of which 26 were primary) in 155 games.
