Against the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday, Tomas Plekanec led the offence, scoring a goal and an assist against one of the league’s best teams. Against the New Jersey Devils on Thursday, one of the team’s best games of the season, Torrey Mitchell and Philip Danault combined their efforts to score three goals in a 5-2 win.
All season long, Mitchell and Danault have been pleasant surprises for the Canadiens, totalling seven and six goals respectively. They rank fifth and sixth on the team while mostly playing on the bottom forward line. The coaching staff will depend on them for as long as possible, but there are also other internal options to consider, especially with the team’s AHL affiliate.
