Marc Bergevin got to business yesterday signing Christian Folin to a one-year extension. The Montreal Canadiens originally acquired Folin from the Philadelphia Flyers along with Dale Weise in the trade that sent Byron Froese and David Schlemko to the Metropolitan Division.
Folin sat out of the Habs first seven games after the trade before drawing in for Mike Rielly on the bottom pair. What stood out the most of his playing style was his calmness and trustful physicality. The 28-year-old played well enough to stick in the defence pairings for the remainder of the season knocking Rielly out for good.
