It was late, but not late enough for the Montreal Canadiens. The Winnipeg Jets made a big move in acquiring Paul Stasny from the St. Louis Blues but were also looking to add a depth defenceman to their left side. Enter Joe Morrow.
The Habs and Jets worked on a trade sending the 25-year-old to Winnipeg in exchange for a fourth-round pick in 2018. Morrow was Claude Julien‘s project all season after signing a one-year deal with Montreal over the summer. As the year went on, the Habs had him in and out of the lineup playing him as high as the second pairing.
