Going into this off-season for the Montreal Canadiens, one of Marc Bergevin‘s jobs was to find a good top six scorer to boost the offense. The Habs finished the 2014-15 campaign tied with the Pittsburgh Penguins for 18th in goals with 221. That also put the two teams in last among all playoff teams in goals scored in the regular season.
This continued in the playoffs as both the Habs and Penguins were 15th and 16th respectively in goals per game. It showed that both teams needed to find a boost offensively in the of season.
