I’d say that was a mission accomplished, wouldn’t you? The Montreal Canadiens sending Victor Mete to play at the World Juniors was a chance for the rookie to gain more confidence by being a leader on a Team Canada blueline itching for a gold medal. It took a set of dominating games and a frustrating loss to the US in the shootout, but Canada was the team to raise the trophy at the end.
Come to think of it, there’s some significance in Mete being part of this Gold medal team. The Woodbridge native was drafted in 2016, which was in Buffalo, and made his NHL debut this season in Buffalo.
