In a time of signing undrafted and college free agents, the Montreal Canadiens took another shot in the Ontario Hockey League. Hayden Verbeek was signed to a three-year entry-level contract after finishing his overage season with the Sault St. Marie Greyhounds. The 20-year-old finished the year with 30 goals and 31 assists in 67 games which was good for fifth on the team in scoring.
Verbeek has gone through a lot of growth in the last two years with the Greyhounds. There were times where he struggled to get in the lineup consistently, but over time has added a level of consistency to his game.
