After playing on Wednesday night, the Montreal Canadiens have returned Ryan Poehling to the Laval Rocket of the American Hockey League.
Poehling had his best game of the season, playing over nine minutes and getting lots of scoring chances and was otherwise noticeable. The move to send him back likely means that the Canadiens got some good news on the injury front, either from Matthew Peca who underwent an MRI after leaving Tuesday’s game, or Paul Byron.
There is no reason for the Canadiens to send Poehling down as he is exempt from waivers and days on the roster is not an issue.
