The Montreal Canadiens have sent Morgan Ellis back to the AHL's St. John's IceCaps today after he played three games.

Ellis averaged only under nine minutes of ice time in his three games, against the Anaheim Ducks, Los Angeles Kings and Winnipeg Jets.
With Ellis being sent down, the Canadiens only have six healthy defencemen meaning Victor Bartley may return to the lineup. It also likely means that Nathan Beaulieu is nearing a return to the lineup.
