All good things come to an end, and the Montreal Canadiens used their final selection at the 2018 NHL Draft to dip into the QMJHL. Samuel Houde was their final guy with the 133rd pick who is a centre coming out of the Chicoutimi Saguenéens. The 18-year-old scored 16 goals and 16 assists in 54 games in the Q improving on his 9 point performance from the year before.
Many applauded Houde’s hockey IQ and vision along the ice growing in the ranks. Chicoutimi took him eighth overall hoping that those underlying talents could turn into something special.
