Not seeing Ryan Poehling play was a bit of a downer for Montreal Canadiens fans who were looking to track his progression from last year. But it was understandable seeing as how the purpose of the event is for coaching staff’s to evaluate other players they have as possible options to make their respective teams for the World Junior Championships.
But there is some new information out that provides further insight into why Poehling didn’t play. NHL.com staff writer Mike Morreale tweeted that the Habs 2017 first-round pick underwent surgery for tonsillitis after the team’s development camp at the beginning of July (Note: tonsillitis is when the tonsils become inflamed).
