Montreal Canadiens‘ prospect, Michael McCarron, has now added “Memorial Cup Championship” to his resume. With his team, the Oshawa Generals, McCarron hoisted the prestigious trophy and enjoyed the accolades of many, including Habs’ fans.
McCarron has effectively ended his Junior career with a national championship, which is quite a spectacular way to “graduate” Juniors. It also makes him the 5th Habs prospect to win the Cup since 2011:
- 2011: Nathan Beaulieu hoisted the Cup with the Saint John Sea Dogs
- 2012: Michael Bournival and Morgan Ellis won the Cup with the Shawinigan Cataractes
- 2013: Zach Fucale was stellar in nets to help the Halifax Mooseheads capture the title
This could mean a spot on the Habs’ roster in the not-too-distant future, and one that would give him the opportunity to break out and use his size to give the Canadiens that extra edge.
