Montreal Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin made several moves this past week in his efforts to better his team and increase its chances on winning the Stanley Cup.
One move that came in under the radar was the team’s signing of defensive prospect Joel Hanley to a one year, two-way contract.
Though the deal does not present itself as a significant move for the average fan, many see it as Bergevin’s restocking of the team’s defensive depth throughout the farm system. With the promotion of Nathan Beaulieu and Greg Pateryn to the Hab’s starting roster, Bergevin must sign other players to restore the talent pool and keep the organization ready to advance at every level.
