The last move the Montreal Canadiens made was signing Michael McCarron to his one-year contract extension. After that, Marc Bergevin‘s work was done, and it was a matter of waiting for the regular season to begin (or at least training camp). That was until Andrei Markov returned to Montreal.
It’s common knowledge that the 40-year-old wishes to return to the NHL. His deal in the KHL with Ak Bars Kazan was up, and he reached the top with a Gargarin Cup in 2018. The goal for Markov now is to return to the big leagues (no offence KHL) and reach that 1000-game milestone perhaps winning a Stanley Cup along the way.
