Rewind the clocks back to 2012. The Montreal Canadiens had a bad start to their 2011-12 season going 1-5-2 out of the gate. When it was all said and done, the team ended the regular season with a 31-35-16 record (78 points) placing them last in the Eastern Conference.
That was the end of the line general manager Pierre Gauthier. The team chose to relieve him of his duties in the final stretch of the year on March 29th, 2012. The main focal point of the decision by Geoff Molson was simple: The team will do whatever it takes to win.
