The Montreal Canadiens did something that many saw coming. It was still an unorthodox decision even though it was arguably the right one. The team chose to fire Michel Therrien during the 2016-17 season despite being first in the Atlantic Division.
The team had another hot start to their season winning 9 of their first 10 games. Because of that, the Habs were the first team to reach the 20-point mark with still a lot of hockey left to play. What was concerning for followers of the club was how they were winning.
The majority of the victories came at the expense of being both out-shot and out-chanced.
