The Montreal Canadiens are shutting down the Habs Hall of Fame, located inside the Bell Centre, at the end of August. According to a report on the Habs’ website, the reason is entirely due to ongoing renovations at the Bell Centre site.
The items in the museum will be returned to those who donated them.
The museum, which opened in January of 2010, is truly a historic visit, a depiction of the storied franchise. Among the estimated 800 items on display are Stanley Cup rings, mannequins sporting vintage uniforms and equipment, the 1953-1954 contract between the Habs and goaltender Jacques Plante, and hockey cards dating back to the first year of the Habs’ membership in the NHL (1909).
