The Montreal Canadiens announced that Ben Chiarot will miss six to eight weeks after surgery to repair a broken hand.
Chiarot left Vancouver to return to Montreal for further evaluation after leaving his last game after a fight with J.T. Miller. He has missed the last two games, and will be out for the forseeable future.
The defenceman has one goal and four assists in 25 games this season. Alexander Romanov has taken his spot next to Shea Weber. It remains to be seen whether the team makes a move to replace him.
