The Montreal Canadiens have signed goaltender Michael McNiven to a one-year contract, thus avoiding arbitration first reported by Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman and confirmed by the team.
The contract will pay McNiven $750,000 on the NHL roster, $100,000 in the AHL, with a guaranteed yearly salary of $110,000. McNiven filed for arbitration earlier this month.
McNiven, 24, was an undrafted free agent who signed with the Canadiens after receiving an invite to development camp. He just finished his fourth professional season, spent mostly in the American Hockey League with some stints in the ECHL.
