The Montreal Canadiens announced the $1.1M-contract of Alexander Semin earlier today, giving the Habs a big advantage coming into the new season.
Semin was signed as a free agent after his contract with the Carolina Hurricanes was bought out 3 years before its expiration date. Playing most of his NHL career with the Washington Capitols, Semin had two 30+-goal seasons, and one 40-goal season.
In 2014, he suffered a wrist injury which lowered his shooting numbers. But in 7 of his 9 NHL seasons, he has scored at least 20 goals per, making him a productive player.
