The Montreal Canadiens seem to like making use of fifth-round picks. Previously, in a move that was polarizing among the fans, free agent Jakub Jerabek was traded to the Washington Capitals for a fifth-round pick in 2019. Now Marc Bergevin has worked the phones again and made use of one to make an acquisition.
Defenceman Mike Reilly will be joining the team in exchange for a fifth-round pick in 2019 (sound familiar?). The 24-year-old shoots left and can move the puck very well. Similar to Joseph Morrow, Reilly is an offensive defenceman, but he sees the ice well and knows where to go to contribute on the more positive side of the puck.
