There’s a lot to take from this trade. In exchange for defence prospect Simon Bourque, the Montreal Canadiens acquire Joel Armia, goaltender Steve Mason, a seventh-round pick is 2019 and a fourth-round pick in 2020.
Armia is a big-bodied winger standing at six-foot-four and 205 pounds. He’s spent the better part of the last three seasons in the Winnipeg Jets lineup with 10, 19, and 29 point seasons. The Finn is a strong net-front presence who produces primarily in the slot. Additionally, based on his production overseas in Finland, including Jesperi Kotkaniemi’s current team Ässät, there’s a history of goal-scoring.
