The IceCaps started the season with three games on the road, and they did not have the success they would have liked, dropping all three games.
By the end of the last game against the Providence Bruins, tempers were running wild. The officiating for the game was sub-par at best, missing boarding calls and penalizing the IceCaps after one of their own players took a dangerous hit.
After the final buzzer sounded, the refs lost complete control. Charles Hudon was surrounded by Bruins and Michael McCarron stepped in to help. Bruins player, Justin Hickman, began repeatedly punching McCarron in the head then ripped his helmet off.
