Max Friberg has been named captain of the Montreal Canadiens American Hockey League farm team St. John’s IceCaps, succeeding Gabriel Dumont who left the organization as an unrestricted free agent over the summer.
A stalwart member of the defensive third line unit, the right winger is known for his strong forecheck and physical work along the boards without taking any excessive or necessary penalties. He is also a mainstay on the penalty kill unit for the IceCaps.
Montreal acquired Friberg from the Anaheim Ducks on January 7th 2016 in return for departing goaltender Dustin Tokarski who had just been assigned to the IceCaps.
