Playing just two games before being a healthy scratch for the last two matchups, Mark Streit has been placed on waivers by the Montreal Canadiens.
He will be eligible to be claimed by the other 30 teams for the next 24 hours. Should he clear he could be reassigned to the Laval Rocket of the AHL, but a more favourable solution for both parties may be the mutual agreement of a contract termination.
Were he to agree to report to the Rocket, the Habs can bury the remainder of his $700,000 salary as he’s on the first (and only) year of a new contract as a 35+ player.
