Marie-Philip Poulin named captain of Les Canadiennes

It must have been hard to find an honour Marie-Philip Poulin has yet to achieve.

Poulin has two Olympic gold medals, two gold-medal-winning goals, a CWHL MVP, the Angela James Bowl as the league’s top scorer, a Clarkson Cup championship, and now she is the third captain in Montreal’s CWHL history.

She was named the captain of Les Canadiennes last night and it was officially announced this morning on TVA’s Salut Bonjour.

The previous team captain was defender Cathy Chartrand who remains with the team. Chartrand was the captain for three seasons. She took over the captaincy from CWHL co-founder Lisa-Marie Breton-Lebreux prior to the 2013-14 season.
