It wasn’t easy, but Les Canadiennes started their season with a 5-2 win over the Brampton Thunder on Saturday night.
Ann-Sophie Bettez scored the game-winning goal 11:44 into the third period to put Montreal up 3-2. Her 15th career game-winning goal puts her one behind teammate Caroline Ouellette for the most in CWHL history. Bettez’s goal was also her 64th career goal which moved her into 5th place all-time.
Montreal got goals from Caroline Ouellette and an empty net marker from Jordanna Peroff to widen their lead in the third period.
