It was a relaxed Marc Bergevin that met with members of the media on Monday to discuss the early-season success of his Montreal Canadiens. The Habs general manager has much to feel good about after seeing his retooled squad storm to a 6-2-2 start, and seize a share of third place in Atlantic Division standings.
The Canadiens’ hot start comes in stark contrast to a year ago, when the club picked up just two wins and five points through their first 10 outings. It was all downhill from there, as Montreal stumbled to a 28th overall finish, intensifying calls from both fans and media for Bergevin to be fired.
