Coming on the heels of a hard fought 3-2 overtime win on Friday night, the IceCaps were looking to make it a clean sweep of their rivals. The Marlies had different plans as they overcame a four goal deficit to claim a 9-8 win in overtime. Yes you read that correctly; there were seventeen goals scored.
Rookie Michael McCarron led the way for St. John's with five points (two goals, three assists), while Bud Holloway, Charles Hudon, and Morgan Ellis all had three points. McCarron's big night also set an IceCaps record for most points in a single game, and rocketed him to the top of the rookie scoring race.
