The Montreal Canadiens made their second pick in the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, choosing Josh Brook with the #56 pick.
Brook is a 6’1”, 182-pound defenceman who played in the WHL for the Moose Jaw Warriors this season. He helped the team earn a playoff berth as one of the top blue-liners, used in all situations, and was named to Team Canada for the Under-18 World Championship.
He recorded 40 points in the regular season with Moose Jaw, with 32 assists, adding seven points in the seven playoff games the team played.
Brook plays an aggressive style of defence, opting to attack the puck-carrier rather than hang back in a defensive position, and that sometimes gets him out of position.
