Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price has won the Lou Marsh award as Canada's top athlete.
Price is the first NHL player to win the award since 2009 when Sidney Crosby won it and he is the first member of the Montreal Canadiens to win the award since 1977 when Guy Lafleur won it. Price is the first goaltender to ever win the award that has been given out annually since 1936.
The award is named in honour of Lou Marsh, a Canadian athlete, referee, and former sports editor of the Toronto Star. Marsh died in 1936 and the trophy was named in his honour.
