Montreal Canadiens goaltender Carey Price released a statement on social media detailing his time away from the team and his entry into the NHL/NHLPA Assistance program.
Price says that he entered a residential treatment centre for substance abuse stemming from years where he says he neglected his mental health. Price says that he made the choice to prioritize himself and his family.
“Asking for help when we need it is what we encourage our kids to do, and it is what I needed to do,” Price said in the statement on Instagram.
