The Canadiens went nearly eight minutes between shots, finally forcing Petr Mrazek into a save on just their ninth shot attempt of the game, two minutes into the second period. With the forwards unable to generate any offense, Michel Therrien mixed up his lines, placing Sven Andrighetto on the fourth line and moving Dale Weise up to the first.
Sven Andrighetto drew a penalty (something that's becoming his specialty) 5:37 into the period. The Habs generated a couple of quality scoring chances on the powerplay, but once again, were not quite sharp enough on their execution to put one home.
