The Canadiens got an early powerplay, with Alex Killorn sent off for hooking. With the powerplay struggling, it looks like things have been changed up a bit, with the first powerplay unit consisting of four forwards and P.K. Subban as the lone defenseman. The second unit was made up of two rookies in Alex Carr and Sven Andrighetto between Alex Galchenyuk. Although the powerplay didn't score, it was nice to see a creative formation made up of players who actually belong on the powerplay.
The Canadiens registered the first nine shots on net, and withheld the Lightning from even attempting a shot for the first seven minutes of the game.
