Stefan Matteau found a way to get his name on the scoresheet in his first shift as a Hab, but did so by taking a penalty.
If there has been one bright spot in the Canadiens game this year, it's been their penalty kill which is ranked fifth in the league. The Habs killed the early penalty, and Matteau redeemed himself by exiting the penalty box on a mission and threw his weight around until he created a good scoring chance.
The Habs went almost five minutes without a shot attempt midway through the first period, then followed up that stretch with a run of eleven straight shot attempts between the 10:14 and 16:06 marks including five on a powerplay where they came within an inch of scoring the opening goal.
