Canadiens GM Marc Bergevin has made it his mission to make the team harder to play against. That was a key reason to the Canadiens acquiring Andrew Shaw from Chicago. Shaw is a known agitator, similar in style to Brendan Gallagher. He also loves to play in the dirty areas and is willing to take the punishment by planting himself in front of the net.
Making the Canadiens a harder team to play against is definitely something that needs to be done. However, you’d think the Canadiens accomplished most of that goal with Shaw’s addition.
