The Montreal Canadiens aren't sitting on their hands, apparently. They liked what they saw from Greg Pateryn during the late portion of the regular season and playoffs, and have extended the 25-year-old defenseman for two more years. Pateryn still has one year remaining on his current contract at just $562.5K cap hit, and this deal comes cheap as well.
Pateryn's new deal will pay him $750K in 2016-17, and $850K in 2017-18, with a cap hit of $800K. It's a modest deal for a player who has slowly developed into a solid sixth or seventh defenseman.
