Montreal came into Sunday afternoon's contest against the Toronto Furies hot off a 3-1 win over a Toronto team whose goaltender stood on her head Saturday evening. Christina Kessler wasn't between the pipes on Sunday afternoon, but they were met with a similar challenge in Sonja van der Bliek.
The Furies recently acquired van der Bliek from the Brampton Thunder in exchange for a fourth-round draft pick, and she made her debut with Toronto in exquisite fashion. Despite giving up five goals (the sixth goal that Les Canadiennes scored was an empty netter), she made 48 saves, and displayed fantastic rebound control in the 6-3 loss.
