The Montreal Canadiens have signed forward Christian Thomas to a one-year, two-way contract, announced by general manager Marc Bergevin.
According to sources, Thomas is eligible for waivers this year. That means that should he be sent down to the AHL, he would have to clear waivers first. It still leaves him eligible to be picked up by another team.
Still, the club is giving the scrappy forward a chance to make a case for himself.
While details are not officially released by the Canadiens yet, the reports are that Thomas’s NHL contract is for $850,000 while his AHL salary would be $70,875.
