Winning back to back games has proven impossible for this year’s Montreal Canadiens through 11 games. But after a strong showing against the Detroit Red Wings, there was some hope that they might be able to surprise the New York Islanders — and frankly us all — by doing so on Thursday night at the Bell Centre.

Welcome to your Bottom Six Minutes, in which I’ll discuss them offering no such surprise, and instead subjecting their fans to one of the worst games they’ll ever see.

The Islanders employed a rather simple defensive strategy, in which they basically treated five-on-five like a penalty kill, boxing out the Habs and staying inside the faceoff dots.
