Andrew Shaw signs six-year contract extension

The Montreal Canadiens have announced that they have signed newly acquired forward Andrew Shaw to a contract extension. Shaw was scheduled to become an RFA on July 1st.

Contract details were not immediately made known, but the deal is for six season, starting in 2016-17.

This will be the third NHL contract for Andrew Shaw who previously signed a two-year bridge deal worth $2 million per year after completing his three-year entry-level contract.

Andrew Shaw came over in a trade on draft day from Marc Bergevin's old team, the Chicago Blackhawks, for two second-round picks in the 2016 NHL Draft.
