Hilary Knight and Marie-Philip Poulin were teammates with Les Canadiennes in Montreal, and on Tuesday at the 2021 IIHF Women’s World Hockey Championship in Calgary, they made headlines for very different reasons.
Poulin left Canada’s 5-0 win over Switzerland in the third period after taking a shot to the upper body or neck area while defending a five-on-three penalty kill. She left the game, and did not return.
“Obviously a little bit of a scary situation in the game,” said Canada director of hockey operations Gina Kingsbury after the game. “I’m happy to say that Marie-Philip is doing very well.
