Many of the world’s best young hockey talents have convened in Kamloops this week to participate in the World Junior Showcase. The friendly tournament allows coaching staffs to evaluate a few of the players who could take spots on their national teams for the World Junior Hockey Championship, which gets under way in late December.
Canada is playing host to teams from Sweden, Finland, and the United States. The North American sides used the first few days of the camp to whittle their split-squad rosters down to a single club for the games going forward.
Despite the Montreal Canadiens having several players who were eligible to play, and who potentially will make the final roster when the WJC begins, a handful will not be playing.
