Yoel Romero: It’s ‘crazy’ Michael Bisping was allowed to fight Gastelum after GSP bout

It came as a shock to many when Michael Bisping was booked to fight Kelvin Gastelum just three weeks after losing his middleweight title to Georges St-Pierre at UFC 217.

Bisping, 38, sustained serious damage at UFC 217 and was eventually choked unconscious in the third round.

Yet, despite being finished by St-Pierre in brutal fashion, Bisping’s 30-day medical suspension was reduced by the New York State Athletic Commission (NYSAC) and the Brit was allowed to fight Gastelum at UFC Fight Night 122 in Shanghai, China. The UFC, who acted as the regulatory body in China, also gave Bisping the green light.
