World Series of Fighting has parted ways with its first and only women’s strawweight champion, Jessica Aguilar.
The organization Monday announced that it has released the 33-year-old American Top Team product from her contractual obligations, which included one unfulfilled bout.
According to a release, WSOF freed Aguilar “so that she can ideally pursue competition where it is strongest in her weight division.” That, of course, would be the Ultimate Fighting Championship, which last year launched its own 115-pound weight class and has subsequently snapped up much of the division’s top talent.
