The Brazilian fighter has been removed from UFC Fight Night 110 due to injury. Fellow welterweight Zak Ottow will be stepping up on short notice to replace Alves and fight Japan’s Kiichi Kunimoto. The news was announced by the promotion on Thursday.
Ottow last fought in November at UFC Fight Night 100 where he lost a split decision to Sérgio Moraes. Prior to that, the 30-year-old American defeated veteran Josh Burkman in his promotional debut. Ottow is 1-1 in the UFC and 14-4 in his overall professional MMA record.
Kunimoto was last seen in the Octagon back in February, 2015 where he lost to welterweight contender Neil Magny.
