M-1 Global announced a heavyweight title fight as the headlining act for their upcoming February show in Moscow.
Less than 24-hours removed from the announcement that former Bellator heavyweight champion Alexander Volkov had signed with M-1 Global, the leading Russian promotion revealed that the signee would challenge for the vacant heavyweight title.
According to the promotion, champ Marcin Tybura vacated his title in order to begin negotiations with the UFC. Instead, Volkov and prospect Denis Smoldarev will determine the next champion at M-1 Challenge 64 in Moscow.
Volkov, a former Bellator heavyweight champion, went 6-3 with the North American promotion and finished his tenure on a two-fight losing skid.
