After two consecutive defeats and a no contest verdict, Vitor Belfort picked up his first win early this month at UFC 212 against Nate Marquardt. The 40-year-old “Phenom” scored a unanimous decision victory in front of his home crowd, somehow proving that his retirement plans can be put on hold, for now.
After the fight, Marquardt expressed his “surprise and shock” when Belfort was handed the decision win. For him, the fight being held in Rio de Janeiro played a huge role, since he was expecting for it to take place in Singapore, which was originally planned.
