Sure, he blasted a 45-year-old Dan Henderson who has been finished in his last four losses, but a win is a win.
Belfort took a 2-1 lead over Henderson following last night’s trilogy, avenging a decision defeat from 2003.
It didn’t take long for Belfort to wax Henderson. Following a head kick to the dome, Belfort swarmed him with a barrage of punches until referee Mario Yamasaki brought the assault to a halt.
The official stoppage came at 2:07 in the opening round.
There was some controversy that the stoppage may have been a tad early, but it seemed that the end was near even if Yamasaki would have stepped in later.
