Gennady Golovkin has truly frightening power. There's no other word to describe it.
Last Saturday night's (May 16, 2015) opponent, Willie Monroe, Jr., felt that in the second round as a brutal left hook sent him to the ground inside The Forum in Inglewood, California. A continued fusillade of power punches, capped off by a left uppercut, put Monroe down a second time just seconds later.
Impressively, however, the American managed to not only survive the round but begin landing his fair share of quality punches. Golovkin (33-0, 30 KO) found himself outlanded in the fourth round, a rare occurrence, and ate his fair share of body shots and clean jabs from the slick southpaw.
